Pulsed laser beam is absorbed by coating layer, coating vaporizes /sublimates and peels off by thermal shock. The S2 steel substrate reflects laser energy, properly tuned parameters keep substrate temperature below damage threshold, no burning, melting or hardness reduction. Fume extraction system captures coating vapor & fine dust during processing.
